City police reduced the number of new sworn officers they're requesting in 2014 down from three to two, but could add more in coming years.

The increase would mean 44 sworn officers on staff at the Stevens Point Police Department. The department will add one patrol officer and add another forensics specialist who can handle computer crimes and evidence.

The increase in officers is needed as call volumes increase, said Stevens Point Police Assistant Chief Martin Skibba. ...
