Great Northern Corp., an Appleton-based industry leader in retail and point-of-purchase displays, won nine awards - including one of five platinum awards - in the Design of the Times competition at the 2013 Shopper Marketing Expo in Chicago.
The Design of the Times contest recognizes the retail industry's most inspiring and creative in-store activation tactics and campaigns. Each entry was judged on its ability to command attention, connect with the shopper, convey information and close the sale.
Great Northern earned the platinum award for its Take Note of Color Endcap, created for a 3M in-store campaign. The display also won a gold award in the specialty stores category. Platinum awards are selected as the best in their category from among Gold award winners.
The company also won gold awards for its Mattel Hot Wheels Racetrack Dump Bin, for Mattel, in the mass merchandisers category and for its Gander Mountain Fishing Line Wall, for Pure Fishing Corp., in the sporting goods category. It earned three silver and three bronze awards.
