Personal stories have inspired Matthew West's last two albums, and he's coming to share those songs based on other people's lives with a local audience when he performs Oct. 24 at The Grand in downtown Wausau.

"I've always been a storyteller at heart," West said during a recent phone interview from a bus headed toward a concert in Dallas, Texas. "Over the last few years, I'd look out at the crowd at my shows and see maybe a little kid with his mom but no dad there. I'd wonder what their story is. Or I'd see a teen crying and wonder what her story is."
