Woman faces felony charges following drunken driving crash

A 21-year-old woman who was critically injured in an August car crash made her initial appearance Thursday morning in Wood County Circuit Court.

Maci T. Siems of Wisconsin Rapids is charged with two felony counts with causing injury by drunken driving and one misdemeanor count of causing injury by drunken driving. Wood County Circuit Judge Todd Wolf set a $2,000 signature bond for Siems, who faces a maximum of 26 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Siems was driving a car when it went through an intersection and hit a utility pole near the intersection of Pepper Avenue and Seventh Street just before 2 a.m. Aug. 29.

One of Siems' passengers suffered a broken cheek bone, skull fracture, possible injured lung and two broken ankles, according to the criminal complaint, another suffered significant injuries to her jaw and face. A third passenger suffered a broken foot.

Siems had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.184 percent, according to the complaint.
