What do you get when you combine creative teens, a bit of glitz and the art of upcycling? If you're really good, you get a new iPad.

The Fond du Lac Public Library has launched Upcycled Glam, a contest that challenges teens to create a special-occasion outfit that uses a combination of upcycled clothing and upcycled pages from books or magazines. The contest doesn't end until spring, giving teens plenty of time to create great designs.

Upcycled Glam is open to anyone in middle or high school who resides in Fond du Lac County. Entries are due no later than April 1, 2014. The creations will be judged by a VIP panel on the basis of overall design (40 percent); use of upcycled book or magazine pages (25 percent); cost, the lower the better (20 percent); and creativity (15 percent).

Entries will be put on display in the library's Langdon Divers Gallery in May. The winner will receive a new, latest-model iPad and will be featured in press releases, social media and the library's website.

Complete rules and guidelines are available at www.fdlpl.org or by contacting Terri Fleming at fleming@fdlpl.org.

The Fond du Lac Public Library supports a high quality of life in Fond du Lac through reading, lifelong learning and community involvement. There are three locations: Main Library, 32 Sheboygan St.; FDLPL Express, near Festival Foods; and Journeys at St. Agnes, inside the hospital. For more in-formation, visit www.fdlpl.org
