Design of a model being developed to study the dry-up of the Little Plover River could begin next month, as water experts say the river's flow levels are well below the public rights stage, requiring action.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources expects to contract out next month for a scientific model that will allow hydrologists to study impacts of pumping from high capacity wells, changes in rainfall, and other elements that might be contributing to the river's declining water levels.
