Salvation Army: The bell-ringing season begins Nov. 7 in the Fox Cities. Volunteers are needed to ring bells Monday through Saturday. One- and two-hour shifts are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. www.safoxcities.org, 920-955-1225.

Appleton Medical Center: Volunteers are needed in a number of departments, including in the Soliel Cafe, information desk and inpatient surgery prep. Contact: Joni Conrad, 920-738-6269 or joni.conrad@thedacare.org.

Emergency Shelter of the Fox Valley: The shelter is looking to expand its front desk volunteer team. Applications can be found at emergencyshelterfoxvalley.org/volunteering or at the shelter, 400 N. Division St., Appleton. Duties including answering phones and greeting visitors. Volunteers must be 18 years old. Contact: Beth Servais, bethservais@esfv.org or 920-882-0346.

Habitat for Humanity: Site support volunteers and meal providers are needed. Site support volunteers host a worksite, bring ice and water, take care of paperwork and ensure volunteers' needs are met. Training is provided. Meal providers donate lunch to a crew of between eight and 18 people at noon on Saturdays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Johnston Elementary School: Reading and math tutors are needed. The school is located at 2725 E. Forest St., Appleton. Basic math and reading skills are needed. No prior teaching experience required. Contact: 920-832-1517 or visit www1.aasd.k12.wi.us/sp/volunteers.
