Last year about this time, Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast with a devastating impact. The damages have been estimated at $67 billion, with much of the cost picked up by the United States government through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

I recently talked to a relative who has been working with Habitat for Humanity on the Jersey shore. He said he hoped all the good work will last more than a few years.

He's worried about another extreme weather event. My relative is a meteorologist who strongly believes that climate change is a fact. He worked for many years at M&M Mars, Inc. traveling ...
