BASKETBALL November-December

What: Two Rivers Parks and Recreation Mighty Mites Basketball

When: Saturday's Nov.9-Dec.21, 9-10 a.m. Registration deadline is Nov. 1.

Where: J.E. Hamilton Community House, Rocheleau Gym

Cost: $24 residents, $32 non-residents

Synopsis: Learn team work skills and have fun while learning basketball. The participant will learn and understand the basics needed to play the game. Adult volunteers are needed each week for the team games. This program does not have practice other than Saturday morning. The program is for youngsters in 2nd and 3rd grade. There will not be games on Nov. 30.

November-February

What: Manitowoc-Two YMCA youth co-ed basketball leagues (Fall: Nov. 9 thru Dec. 21. Winter: Jan. 11 thru Feb. 22.)

When: Saturday mornings from Nov. 9-Dec. 21 and Jan. 11-Feb. 22; Grades 4K-5K - 8-8:45 a.m.; 1st-2nd - 9-10 a.m.; 3rd-5th - 10:15-11:30 a.m.

Where: Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA

Cost: $17/member, $59/non-members for grades 4K-2nd; $21/member, $64/non-member for grades 3rd-5th. Prices valid if registered by Friday for fall and by Jan. 3 for winter.

Synopsis: Students will have a short practice followed by a game each week with their teams. Hoops, balls and rules are adjusted to accommodate the age and skill of each group.

FITNESS November-December

What: Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA co-ed Active Transformers

When: Week of Nov. 4 thru Week of Dec. 16. after school for 1 hour. Days of the week and exact times vary by school.

Where: MPSD Elementary School Gyms

Cost: $10

Synopsis: Students meet in their school gym once per week after school to participate in active games, fitness activities and sports. Students grouped into grades 1-3 or 4-6. Instructed by YMCA staff and volunteers. Registration forms available in 10/18 Friday Folders, at Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA front desk or at www.mtrymca.org/youth

FOOTBALL October

What: Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA Youth Team Flag Football (Co-Ed)

When: Week of Oct. 21. Mon & Wed Evenings 4:30-5:30 for 3rd - 5th Grades. Tues. & Thur. Evenings 4:30-5:30 for 1st & 2nd Grades. Tuesday Evenings 4:30-5:15 for 4K & K.

Where: Madison Elementary School Field

Cost: $28 Members, $82 Non-Members for 1st-5th Grades; $21 Members, $67 Non-Members for 4K & K. One-time Jersey Fee: $15 (only if player does not already own a Y jersey)

Synopsis: Program features practices and games each evening. Recreational focused. Age groups split into 4K & K, 1st and 2nd Grades, 3rd-5th Grades. Games will be scrimmages against other Y teams. Volunteer coaches needed, Y staff will lead program.

HOCKEY October-February

What: Learn to play hockey

When: Thursdays 5:15-6 p.m.; Session 1: Oct.17-Nov.14; Session 2 : Nov.21-Dec. 26; Session 3: Jan.2-Jan.30; Session 4: Feb.6-March 6

Where: Manitowoc County Ice Center

Cost: $30 per session

Synopsis: In conjunction with the Two Rivers Recreation Department, the Manitowoc County Youth Hockey Association is offering a learn to play hockey program. Skates are available for rental for $1. Helmet, thick gloves, and hockey stick are required. Limited equipment is available for use at the ice center. The program is geared toward kids ages 5-15. Skaters will learn to handle stick and puck and other basic hockey skills through drills and scrimmages. PREP SPORTS October

What: Manitowoc Public School District winter and spring athletic code meeting

When: Today at 7 p.m.

Where: Lincoln High School auditorium

Synopsis: All athletes who will be participating in a winter or spring sport for the 2013-14 season is asked to attend. They're also asked to bring the following items to the Lincoln/Washington/Wilson school offices: a physical card or alternate year card, depending upon the year, signed by a licensed physician; signed parent/athlete form indicating agreement, understanding and knowledge of the athletic and academic codes; insurance waiver form; signed statement acknowledging receipt of the of the MPSD education and responsibility concussion management plan; emergency information card

Cost: $50 athletic participation fee

SHOOTING October- December

What: 2013 Manitowoc Recreation Department junior rifle program

When: Wednesdays at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. from Wednesday-Dec. 19.

Where: Manitowoc Country Sheriff's Department firing range

Synopsis: The program which highlights safe gun handling, respect for firearms and marksmanship, is open to ages eight and over, adults included. .22 Caliber rifles and ammo, are supplied by the program. are the main focus of the program.

Cost: $34 for residents, $40 for non-residents. Scholarships are available for those who cannot afford the fee.

What: Basic Skate

When: Thursdays from 5:15-6 p.m.; Session 1: Now-Nov. 14; Session 2: Nov. 21- Dec 26.; Session 3: Jan. 2-Jan. 30: Session 4: Feb. 6-March 6

Where: Manitowoc County Ice Center

Cost: $25 per session with skate rentals $1.

Synopsis: In conjunction with the Two Rivers Recreation Department, the Manitowoc County Youth Hockey Association is offering a basic ice skating program. The program is geared toward all ages (kids to adults) and will teach skaters the basic skills in order to skate comfortably.

VOLLEYBALL October

What: Lakeshore Storm informational meeting

When: Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.

Where: Manitowoc Lincoln High School auditorium

Cost: Free

Synopsis: The meeting will be for interested parents and players too learn more about the Lakeshore Storm program
