In the southern part of Manitowoc County lies the community of School Hill. The exact origins of School Hill are relatively unknown, but land records show the first settlers came to the area in the 1850s.

The primarily German community was comprised of the following families: Abel, Beniversi, Brost, Buschmann, Dentinger, Green, Gries, Harder, Heckmann, Maas, Mueller, Nellis, Netzer, Schad, Schill, Scharenbrock, Stein, Sohn and Teporten.
