City tax rate may increase

If the 2014 Marshfield budget passes as proposed, the city tax rate would increase 4 cents.

The city has not had a tax rate increase since 2005, said Mayor Chris Meyer.

"This was accomplished through reductions in staff, finding efficiencies in projects and focusing on supporting and maintaining what we already have," Meyer said. "Over the last several years, we have also worked under a state-imposed levy freeze by the state." ...
