Making a 500-mile round trip to Minnesota to train with a pro lumberjack, then making it back in time to attend to your classes isn't a typical week for most college students, unless you happen to be one aiming for a world title.

Ben Hansen, a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, will compete this week in Stuttgart, Germany, with the U.S. Timbersports relay team at the STIHL world championships, which run Thursday through Saturday.

Hansen earned the right to compete by winning the 2013 STIHL Timbersports Series collegiate championships in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., in June. Hansen ...
