The City Council passed several resolutions Monday night without discussion but it was a presentation by Lt. Dave Remiker of the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit that generated the most questions and comments.

"Drugs are a huge problem in our community right now," Remiker said, noting in the past 12 months the unit's officers have made their biggest busts ever in terms of cocaine and marijuana seizures.

Remiker said the prevalence and use of heroin has changed compared to about 15 years ago. Instead of "heroin junkies" in their 40s and 50s, many users today are teenagers to in their 20s with ...
