Sheboygan aldermen voted Monday night to approve the city's 2014 budget, which will increase spending by 1 percent and lead to a slight increase in property taxes.

The budget passed on a 13-3 vote, with aldermen Scott Versey, David Van Akkeren and Jim Bohren voting against it.

The $52.5 million budget includes a $513,000 spending increase and raises property taxes by $293,000 to close a budget deficit of the same amount. ...
