Downtown businesses welcome Dunham's agreement

News that 150 jobs are on the way for Stevens Point's downtown has local business owners smiling.

Downtown restaurants, shops and taverns all have been eager for a return of the foot traffic they lost as the CenterPoint MarketPlace mall gradually died and ultimately was torn down.

Owners Tuesday said they welcomed Monday night's City Council vote that approved leasing the old Dunham's Sports building, which now is owned by the city, to Great Lakes Educational Loan Service. Great Lakes plans to hire 150 employees who eventually will work downtown. ...
