Stevens Point beat out cities in Texas, Colorado and Minnesota in a heated competition to land a Great Lakes Educational Loan Services branch office that will bring 150 new jobs to the area.

Great Lakes CEO Robert D. George told Stevens Point Journal Media on Tuesday that the lease agreement the company intends to enter with Stevens Point for the old Dunham's building was the most attractive it was offered at any of the four sites, and the workforce in central Wisconsin is ideally suited to the company's needs.
