Nasewaupee: Borrowing for beach project discussed

The Nasewaupee Town Board voted last Thursday to pursue borrowing money to pay for rehabilitating Haines Park Beach, with the understanding that 100 percent of the cost is to be reimbursed from a federal grant.

The town would seek a bank line of credit to cover the estimated $100,000 project to reduce bacterial contamination, similar to work done at other beaches in Door County. The county's Soil and Water Conservation Department would oversee the work that includes hauling truckloads of sand that's coarser than the naturally occurring variety at the site, building dunes and planting ...
