Herman and Madeline Neinas celebrate 77 years

Herman and Madeline (Zephirin), Neinas, both 96, Brussels, celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary with a gathering of friends and relatives at their home this month. They married in Brussels at St. Francis Xavier Rectory on Oct. 14, 1936.

Madeline and Herman graduated from Brussels High School where she was the valedictorian and he was a prominent athlete. Herman went to Door-Kewaunee Normal (Teacher) College and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He also taught in the Southern Door area for 42 years with a brief hiatus during World War II. Herman retired in 1982.

Madeline went to the Milwaukee School of Beauty Culture and later worked for Marchant's Food for 27 years.

They have four children Bonnie (Ron) Moede, Algoma; Diane (the late Gary) Fontaine, Watertown; Dan (Mary) Neinas, Casco; and Sheila (Don) Baudhuin, Kewaunee.

They have seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. They are still active in the community and live in their own home in Brussels.
