With severe weather quickly approaching on a July day, the owner of a Winnebago County skydiving company tried to alert the pilot to abort the jump, but the pilot did not get the message until after two skydivers had jumped out of the plane. One of the skydivers drowned in Lake Butte des Morts.

William Hasenfus, the owner of Skydive Adventure, 4028 Rivermoor Road, Omro, told authorities he radioed pilot Aaron Fiss "about 10 times," telling him to abort the July 9 jump and return to Skydive Adventure because a storm was approaching the area faster than expected, according to Winnebago County ...
