More from McCarthy
♦ I'm encouraged (on health of team). Further ahead this week than we were last week. Try to work some guys back.
♦ Jermichael Finley is still seeking opinions from specialists. Doing better each and every day. Doing well at hospital. Haven't talked to him today. I have not sat down and had meeting with doctors about Finley. Will do our due diligence.
♦ James Starks looked good. Looked to be back. Did a lot of jog thru and teaching periods. Looked fine considering workload.
♦ Brad Jones didn't take a lot of reps. Wanted to ease him into it.
♦ Time moves on. Lot of great games at Metordome. Good memories and some tough ones too. Tough place to play. Incredible homefield advantage for Vikings. But it's time (to move on).
♦ (Linebacker Jamari) Lattimore doing well, but doesn't impact how quickly Brad Jones comes back. We want them all back.
♦ Hayward looked good today. If push came to shove, he was close last week. Good for him to get confidence back. Think he'll be ready to go with full week of work.
♦ (Minnesota) Vikings defensive line playing well, including Jared Allen. Tough place to play if you're an offensive tackle.
♦ Edge created in (the Metrodome), it's different playing them there than here. You want to start the game the right way. There's a ton of energy in that place. Unique environment.
♦ "Silence is golden" is theme this week. We're just focused on division game this week.
♦ (Cornerback) Davon House playing very well. Has done some real good things on special teams.
♦ (Vikings running back) Adrian Peterson is outstanding player. Felt that first game last year kind of got away from us. Second game over there we overpursued some. When you're not right he can accelerate the crease. Big powerful back, excellent vision.
♦ (Vikings receiver) Greg Jennings made the media topic list this week. Not a big deal. Jennings fun player to coach. He's moved on. Wish him and his family very well. Will be fun to compete against Greg.
♦ You don't replace Finley, the way he was utilized (with one guy). (Andrew) Quarless and (Brandon) Bostick will have to step up and play a role.
♦ Stay true to film in terms of which quarterback we will face. I don't think they'll be throwing 53 times on Sunday. Their offense starts with Peterson, that will be evident come Sunday.
♦ Coming off road Monday night and then playing at home is not first preference, but it is a Sunday night. Don't think there's advantage one way or another.
♦ Did tempo improve? We have game management report, and it was positive against Cleveland.
♦ Plan is to go outside (Thursday) for practice but spend last 30 minutes inside, did that today and will do so tomorrow.
