Mayor Justin Nickels will host 2014 budget listening sessions at 10:30 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. today at City Hall.

"Come to hear an in-depth update on the proposed budget and ask any questions, make any comments or address any concerns," Nickels stated.

His proposed budget would increased the tax rate 1.99 percent over this year, from $7.59 per $1,000 of assessed property value to $7.74 per $1,000. The owner of a $100,000 home would see a $15 increase.

Nickels has said his budget continues to make substantial progress on paying off the city's overall debt load accumulated over the past decade.
