Prep football: Almond-Bancroft set for rare home playoff game

Running back Joe Beigel and the rest of the Almond-Bancroft football team will have an opportunity to play just the second WIAA home playoff game since 2000 Friday when Cambria-Friesland visits Almond Athletic Field for a Division 7 Level 1 matchup.

After qualifying for the WIAA playoffs just twice prior to 2000, the Almond-Bancroft football team has become a regular guest of the postseason.

Eight times since 2000, the Eagles have reached the postseason, including this season after a 7-2 run through the regular season.

But only once during that time has Almond-Bancroft hosted a playoff game. That was in 2008. ...
