My son and I were thinking about squirrels the other day, after noticing some of their old nests. Now that the leaves are almost all gone, their leafy homes are obvious, high in the tree crowns.

Gray squirrels simply live their wild lives, right in our urban midst. And, for the most part, we coexist nicely. We don't bother the squirrels much. They don't bother us much. Sometimes, in fact, squirrels are pretty friendly with us. But I'll get to that in a minute.
