Some help plant dune grass while others encourage healthy habits

The Saturday morning temperatures were in the high 40s as volunteers, some of them on their knees in the Lake Michigan shoreline sand, began planting long tufts of grass into newly created dunes at the Red Arrow Park beach.

At the nearby Manitowoc-Two Rivers Y, parents and volunteers looked on as children in the gym played in a bounce house, swing at a ball in the batting cage, played some hoops and enjoying a Zumba exercise session.

The two groups were contributing to the community as part of the annual Make A Difference Day, sponsored by USA Weekend magazine and Points of Light foundation.Red ...
