Prep cross country: Nekoosa/Port runners reach state; other D2/D3 results

ARCADIA - At the WIAA Division 2 Arcadia Sectional meet Saturday, Nekoosa/Port Edwards juniors Ben Eidenschink and Josh Schraeder finsished first and second to qualify as indivudals to the state meet, Nov. 2 at the Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.

Only the top two teams and top five indivudals from non-qualifying teams advance to the state meet.

Nekoosa/Port Edwards placed third, falling one place shy of qualfiying as a team.

Girls state qualifiers were Adams-Friendship sophomore Azure Hodkiewicz and Nekoosa/Port Edwards freshman Shannon Sorbo.

Waupaca Sectional

WAUPACA - Tomahawk senior Bryan Tomek and Colby/Abbotsford junior Sam Bach qualified for the boys state meet, and Tomahawk sophomore Dani Whiting advanced to the girls meet.

The Tomahawk girls missed qualifying as a team by one point.
