The Society of Oshkosh Brewers have decided to once again roll three H's into one event: Halloween, homebrew and helping local nonprofits.

The second annual Casks and Caskets, at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Oshkosh Convention Center, taps tasty homebrewed specialties to raise money for food pantries in the Oshkosh area as they prepare for a busy season.

A ticket to the tasting will set you back $30 in advance or $40 at the door, and a VIP ticket for the tasting and dinner costs $65 in advance.

? Operatives Ben and Brian were among the first to spot the new Italian beef sandwich shop that's set to open near the intersection of Main Street and Irving Avenue. More than a few locals are hoping Raymond's Italian Beef, 703 N. Main St., Oshkosh, can fill the void left by A Taste of the Windy City's closure.

? It's not too late to head on over to CVS Pharmacy, 1736 W. Ninth Ave., Oshkosh, to get in on the food and beverages, special deals and other festivities the chain is offering to celebrate the store's official opening day. The fun runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

? Appleton's infamous Paradise Club isn't the only establishment with, to quote a peer, "professional naked ladies" that's going up on the auction block in December. Operative Poxy noted the former Landmark Lounge, 2939 Jackson St., also will be auctioned in that very same lot.
