Football: Iola-Scandinavia vs. Algoma, Southern Door, 7 p.m. Friday: The Thunderbirds made a triumphant return to the WIAA playoffs after a one-year absence with a 49-12 thrashing of Crandon in Division 6 first round action. I-S showed a balanced attack, as quarterback Nick Wavruk connected with Isaac Lashua on a pair of touchdown passes, while Jake Hansen added two touchdown runs. Algoma advanced with a 22-15 win over Auburndale.
