A 46-year-old Stratford man who admitted he wrapped his dog in duct tape and sent the photo to a friend said he loves his dog and has no idea why he he abused the animal.

David R. Butler on Monday pleaded guilty in Marathon County Circuit Court to intentionally mistreating an animal, a misdemeanor charge that carries a maximum penalty of nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine. As part of a plea agreement, the charge will be reduced to a disorderly conduct citation and Butler will avoid jail time if he stays out of trouble for a year, performs 30 hours community service and completes a corrective ...
