County moves to hire a

Board fixes site adjacent to courthouse for new jail, sheriff's office

The block north of the Oconto County Courthouse was formally selected as the site of the planned Law Enforcement Center by the County Board last week.

Supervisors also approved starting the process to acquire the 14 properties on that block, including hiring a company to provide assist in the purchases as well as relocation of residents, and to hire an architect/engineer to design the new jail and sheriff's offices.

It will take at least a year before the preliminary design is finished and the site is clear, administrative coordinator Kevin Hamann told the board. ...
