Neighborhood rallies to help family displaced by fire

A home on the 5500 block of Isaiah Street in Weston that burned to the ground Oct. 9 during a fire. Neighbors have rallied together to collect donations for the owner and his family, who are currently living in an area hotel.

Brett Koss built his family home on Isaiah Street nine years ago. His daughter was 2 years old when the family moved in, and he brought his two sons to the home after their births at the hospital.

Everything Koss ever purchased was in that home - family photos, stuffed animals, clothes and furniture.

On Oct. 9, Koss came home from his construction job to find all his belongings in a charred heap. The home he spent about a year building caught fire by accident when one of his boys was playing with a lighter. The home was engulfed in flames in fewer than 30 minutes. ...
