James Jones sees '50/50' chance of playing Monday

Nov. 2, 2013

James Jones continues to edge closer to a return to the football field, but it remains uncertain whether or not he値l be in time for when the Green Bay Packers host the Chicago Bears on Monday night.

的知 not a betting man. I don稚 know, said the seventh-year receiver on his chances of playing. 鏑ike I said, I felt good, but if I was a betting man, I don稚 know, 50/50.

The Packers agreed. They listed Jones as questionable to play Monday after missing the past two games with a knee sprain he sustained last month against Baltimore.

He took part in Friday痴 padded portion of practice without issue and was visible during all of Saturday痴 practice open to the media, but still worked in a limited capacity, according to Packers coach Mike McCarthy.

Injuries are new to Jones, who played in 74 consecutive regular-season games for the Packers from 2008 until this year. He said he痴 felt comfortable cutting and running on the knee, but it will be up to team doctors and the training staff to see how the knee reacts and make a final determination.

In his place, second-year pro Jarrett Boykin has responded with his two best performances to date 103 yards and a touchdown against Cleveland two weeks ago and five catches for 89 yards against the Vikings.

The Bears have struggled mightily on defense this year, but still possess two of the game痴 top turnover-generating cornerbacks in Tim Jennings and Charles Tillman, who each have three interceptions and two forced fumbles in seven games this season.

Packers rookie receiver Myles White said ball security has been an emphasis in the receivers room all week and having Jones back would go a long way in solidifying the offense that痴 already playing without tight end Jermichael Finley (neck) and receiver Randall Cobb (broken fibula).

Now, only time will tell if Jones will be back in the fold.

的知 trying to get out there for any game. I知 just glad I知 feeling better, Jones said. 的t is Monday night, so, I mean, it is the Bears, so I値l put a little extra on it. Felt better. I知 mostly going to just see how it reacts (Sunday). If it reacts pretty good (Sunday), we might have a decent shot. If I wake up sore and all that stuff, I don稚 know.
