Appleton neighbors of Rachel Connelly did the neighborly thing years ago, promising to check up on the aging woman. They never realized she'd live to be 104 come Thursday.

Aside from chronic back pain that keeps her in bed more than she'd like, Connelly remains a clear thinker, loves to socialize, still invests in the stock market and, in many ways, is a walking history book when it comes to Outagamie County, where she's spent almost 100 of her years.

With skin befitting a woman years younger, Connelly never thinks about death, and could care less she's turning 104. ...
