Officers in squad-car collision avoid serious injuries

Two Fond du Lac Police officers were injured Friday night when their squad cars collided at the intersection of Western Avenue and South Macy Street.

The squads were responding to a request for backup for an officer who was struggling with a subject on another call. The cars were traveling in emergency mode and coming from opposite directions when they collided shortly before 9 p.m., according to Fond du Lac Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein.

Involved in the crash were Officer Kristen Kachelmeier and Officer Melissa Sprangers. Both were transported to St. Agnes Hospital with non-life ...
