Volunteers provide 159 quilts to people in need

Lutheran group also collects blankets, basic supplies

Hundreds of people will have a warm quilt this winter thanks to the efforts of local Lutheran churches.

Dozens of cars, vans and trucks pulled into the parking lot Saturday at First English Lutheran Church, 440 Garfield St., Wisconsin Rapids, to drop off boxes of quilts, blankets and health and school supplies for Lutheran World Relieve In-Gathering, the Rev. Josh Fite said. The Wisconsin Rapids church is the drop-off location for participating congregations in Wood, Adams, Portage and Waushara counties.
