Oconto Mayor Victoria Bostedt confirmed her plans to seek re-election after she was asked Thursday by the OCR.

"Although I have actually been telling the citizens since February that I will absolutely run for mayor again, let this ... be the official announcement that I will continue to represent the citizens of Oconto who want change, and support the direction that is being taken for the future of our beautiful city of Oconto!" she stated in an email on Friday.

"Of course, this will only happen if it is what the majority of people still want!" Bostedt added.

Bostedt has regularly stated that as her duty as mayor has been to undertake efforts to make changes in the city the people want, and to grow and improve the city. During her campaign, she promised to be a full-time mayor, and is regularly in city hall or on city business in the community.

Bostedt was elected in April 2012 over alderman Joe Paluch, and write-in Don Nerenhausen, a former mayor. Bostedt finished first in the primary election of the three candidates.
