The Appleton North girls' volleyball team will probably remember Thursday's WIAA Division 1 state quarterfinal at the Resch Center as the one that got away.

The Lightning won the first two sets against Sun Prairie, only to watch as the Cardinals rallied to win the next three sets to claim a 3-2 victory and advance to today's state semifinals.

Sun Prairie defeated the Lightning 23-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-13 and 15-13. ...
