A quilt block made by Mary Ann Trantow of Hewitt garnered the most "likes" in the informal Facebook poll of blocks contributed by readers to Daily Herald Media's Blanket the Northwoods Quilt Challenge.

The two quilts created out of the contributed blocks will be sold Saturday in the silent auction at Empty Bowls to raise money for The Neighbors' Place in Wausau.

Trantow's design used preprinted fabric pictures of deer, a cabin in the woods and a pine cone nestled in pine needles, all framed with coordinating fabrics to create the required 15-inch finished quilt block. ...
