Gov. Scott Walker last week urged local and state leaders to find new ways to recruit more people into manufacturing careers.

Too many manufacturing jobs continue to go unfilled as factories are unable to find workers with the proper skills, Walker said, which can keep companies from taking on new business.

While the state's technical schools and middle schools and high schools have stepped up efforts in recent years to address the state's skilled-labor shortage, Walker said more needs to be done to promote manufacturing as a career choice. ...
