Clippers qualify for state in six swimming events

Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol pulled off a couple of surprises and earned six state entries at a Division 2 high school girls swimming sectional meet Saturday in Plymouth.

Advancing to state are Arica Smith in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle; Maddie Sarkis in the 1-meter diving competition; Katie Kaminski in the 200 freestyle; Smith, Morgan Buckham, Abby Bubnik and Marissa Ehlers in the 200 medley relay; and Smith, Bubnik, Kaminski and Ehlers in the 200 freestyle relay.

"We did very well," said Clippers coach Dave Bubnik. "I'm so proud of the girls. They swam excellent." ...
