Operation Never Forget: Evans students remember veterans

Operation Never Forget began 15 years ago when Mary Costello was unable to find a Veterans Day card at any store.

"There were cards for moving into a new house and for getting a cat, but none for such an important event as Veterans Day," she recalled.

That moment launched a tradition at Evans Elementary School that continues to this day. It started in Costello's third-grade classroom with students writing thank-you letters to 15 veterans. ...
