Wausau man snared in sex sting reaches plea deal

One of 17 men arrested in a three-day sting targeting crimes against children has reached a plea deal with prosecutors that will allow him to avoid a trial.

Phillip Waller, 36, of Wausau faces a single felony charge filed March 14 in Marathon County Circuit Court of using a computer to facilitate a sex crime. A plea and sentencing hearing originally set for Wednesday was postponed after a request by Wright Laufenberg, a defense attorney who represents Waller.

A plea agreement is in place and a hearing will be held at a later date yet to be determined, Marathon County Deputy District Attorney ...
