Gibraltar Elementary students are working to bring the school's newest mural to life this week.

Vinni Chomeau, Friends of Gibraltar coordinator, said work on the mural started several weeks ago when kindergarten through sixth-grade students researched and drew a Door County mammal, bird, bug, fish or amphibian of their choice.

Local painters Liz Maltman of Fish Creek and Mary White of Jacksonport, who are overseeing the "Lucky to Live by the Bay" mural project, encouraged the children to use their imaginations when it came time to paint their critters. ...
