Some retailers cook up specials for shoppers on Thanksgiving Day

It's not unusual for people to be up early Thanksgiving morning, stuffing their turkey into the oven or heading out for deer hunting.

This year, another choice is being added to the menu - extra shopping hours. While some businesses typically are open - convenience and grocery stores - other retailers are opening Thanksgiving night, long before the traditional Black Friday sprint.

Some Shopko stores will open from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day with some items at special prices originally planned for Black Friday. Shopko Hometown stores open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to a news ...
