When I was growing up, in the summer time, my friends and I used to bike or walk, far and near, to a lot of the neighborhoods in the Green Bay area. The farthest we went to the west was Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and the farthest we went to the east was the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The farthest north we went was the Fort Howard Park neighborhood and the farthest south we went was Allouez.

Most of the time, when we got hungry, each of us was fortunate enough to have enough money to buy a soda or some cheap candy that cost a penny or 10 cents at one of the local, family-run grocery stores.
