Officials: Bomb threat suspect is sex offender who officiated youth sports (story, video)

A Markesan man facing charges in connection with a string of bomb threats in Waupun and Dodge counties officiated area youth sporting events despite his status as a Wisconsin registered sex offender, school and WIAA officials say.

The 31-year-old man - who The Reporter is not naming until he is formally charged - has been on the National Sex Offender Registry for eight years, according to court records.

He officiated games in the Waupun and Beaver Dam school districts as well as in Mayville, according to school and police officials. He has officiated basketball, volleyball and baseball ...
