As part of its Webelos Open House, Troop 615-Oshkosh honored Veterans with a flag retirement ceremony at All Saints Lutheran Church.

The troop hosted about a dozen fifth grade Cub Scouts who are learning more about Boy Scouting. They and their parents viewed a slide show of troop activities, had a question-and-answer chat with several Troop leaders, and participated in several cooking and camping demonstrations.

To close the evening, the troop conducted a flag retirement ceremony organized by Eagle Scout Nate Somers. Playing taps was Life Scout A.J. Simons. Several members of the troop were invited to place flags appropriately on the fire for retirement. Grommets removed from the flags were distributed to the Webelos, considered a form of good luck can be carried or worn around the neck of the person who receives one, according to the Independence Hall Association.

Troop 615 is chartered by the Oakwood Elementary PTO and meets at 6:30 p.m. Mondays at All Saints Lutheran Church, 1072 Honeycreek Road. For more information, contact scoutmaster John Porior
