There aren't many young quarterbacks who would've felt comfortable submitting the request, but Scott Tolzien was on a mission.

Shortly after signing onto the Green Bay Packers' practice squad in early September, the third-year quarterback pulled aside his position coach, Ben McAdoo, to ask if he'd be willing to work with him individually before game days.

It's not uncommon for backup and practice-squad quarterbacks to throw to receivers before games. McAdoo's predecessor, current offensive coordinator Tom Clements, remembers his pupils assisting the team in warm-ups all the time, ...
