Prosecutors on Thursday dismissed perjury charges against a former basketball coach and his wife after a judge ruled key evidence in the case inadmissible.

Rory McKellips, 56, and his wife, Constance McKellips, 57, both of Mosinee, were days away from a jury trial when the ruling forced prosecutors to drop the charges, Marathon County Deputy District Attorney Theresa Wetzsteon said Thursday. Both were accused of lying to a jury in Rory McKellips' sexual assault trial, which took place at the end of June; perjury charges were filed July 19.
