Bob Williams, 88, of Stevens Point had always enjoyed walking around Lake Joanis in Schmeeckle Reserve with his wife, Mary. But in 2010, Williams noticed his legs would get tired as he and his bride of 63 years went on their regular strolls.

Williams assumed the fatigue was due to the normal aging process and didn't really give it much thought until he came across an article in The Rotarian, a monthly magazine published by Rotary International, titled "Polio's second act: Some who survived the disease decades ago are now facing a crippling syndrome."
