Central Wisconsin State Fair officials work to handle continued losses

While memories of the weather and crowds during the 2013 Central Wisconsin State Fair might be fuzzy for those who enjoyed the annual festival, the very hot weather and lack of crowds is clearly etched in the collective memory of the fair's board of directors.

"It's not good. I don't know if it's because (the week of the fair) it was very hot," said Heidi Born-Smith, the Central Wisconsin State Fair general manager. "For a long time, we've held steady with attendance at 110,000 every year, but it went down this year by more than 10 percent."
